One of the biggest flaws with modern rifles in my opinion is the lack of any kind of sling studs or mounts in many cases.
With a wood stock as well as many plastic stocks, it's a fairly easy and inexpensive fix though.
All you need are some sling studs and some sling swivels.
I use a drill with a bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the sling stud threading and drill where I want the sling mounted. Screw the sling studs in place (you dont want to overdo it, you can strip the wood) and you are ready to add the swivels and the sling.
This same process can be done on just about any wooden or polymer stock long gun, bolt gun, shotgun, etc... I have done similar things with my Remington 870 shotguns and a few other rifles. It sure is nice when you are carrying it out and about in the middle of nowhere for hours on end to be able to carry it over your shoulder or across your back at times.
